About the Role
• Collaborate with a team to tackle diverse SUE projects. • Read and interpret utility records, as‑built and survey drawings, and highway design plans. • Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies. • Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck, performing test holes to expose utilities. • Apply appropriate traffic maintenance measures. • Process “One‑Call” tickets. • Coordinate survey work related to SUE. • Supervise field‑crew activities. • Train junior crew members. • Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and liaise with utility companies.

What You Bring
Colliers Engineering & Design seeks a SUE Technician II for its Subsurface Utility Engineering Services team. Subsurface Utility Engineering mitigates risks in new infrastructure design and construction by identifying utility conflicts using technologies such as electromagnetic locators, ground‑penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey and vacuum excavation. The role requires precision and technical ability. • Minimum 2 years experience with electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies. • Experience with vacuum excavation preferred. • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and software. • Basic computer skills and strong communication and collaboration abilities. • Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather and travel occasionally. • Capability to walk several miles daily and lift equipment up to 80 lb. • Clean driving record and good driving skills. • Proficient in reading, writing and understanding English for job‑related communications.

Compensation ranges from $27.00 to $35.00 per hour based on qualifications and includes a pre‑employment drug screen plus ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
