About the Role

The Superintendent 2 plans, manages, and executes all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity, overseeing material, equipment, documentation, and project goals to ensure timely and profitable completion while supporting JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. This role exercises decision‑making authority within defined limits and consults supervisors when needed, with a clear career path toward Superintendent 3. The superintendent is expected to lead safety, quality, and inclusive culture initiatives while coordinating with owners, design teams, and regulatory authorities. • Lead safety culture, investigate incidents, and retrain staff as needed. • Manage subcontractors and overall job workflow. • Oversee staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs (Safety, Quality, EEO) for project portions. • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work. • Coordinate and manage site care, custody, and control. • Lead daily standup and weekly trade meetings. • Participate in progress and OAC project meetings. • Create, manage, and adjust the project schedule with the Project Manager. • Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system. • Communicate key information to owners, design team, authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal departments. • Maintain project documentation, updating drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks. • Approve and record unit cost information for weekly reports; complete daily and tracking reports. • Evaluate self‑perform work progress and make adjustments as needed. • Manage material and equipment requirements for the project. • Support MOC and DLSC procurement and approval processes. • Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment for self‑perform operations. • Manage timecard approvals to ensure accurate hours and cost codes. • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and external resources. • Support project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects, and authorities. • Partner with field leadership to establish staffing and develop pre‑plans, monitoring and adjusting throughout the lifecycle. • Collaborate with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of changes. • Participate in negotiations with owners and architects to reach agreement on project changes. • Prepare and present for project review meetings, including monthly reviews and key stakeholder sessions. • Engage in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors. • Interpret and apply contract terms and conditions for owners and subcontractors. • Identify and recruit top talent for the project team. • Promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policy is actively implemented. • Manage complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish, overseeing scheduling, production, safety, and quality. • Identify, assess, and actively manage project risks. • Diagnose problems and recommend solutions for team review and implementation. • Coordinate deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics. • Participate in project pursuits and related negotiations. • Deliver effective intermediate‑level presentations. • Build relationships with team members beyond individual projects. • Utilize JE Dunn construction technology and scheduling software at an intermediate level. • Apply Lean processes and philosophy at an intermediate level. • Manage budgets, maximize profitability, and generate future work through relationships. • Interpret document changes and their impact on the project schedule. • Collaborate effectively within internal and external teams.

What You Bring

The position requires a valid, unrestricted driver’s license, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and may involve travel, relocation, and exposure to extreme conditions. Non‑traditional hours are often needed to meet project demands, and the role includes a professional non‑union benefits package. • Understand the project pursuit process and methodology. • Perform work accurately, completely, and timely. • Demonstrate intermediate verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient in MS Office at an intermediate level. • Apply construction management fundamentals to projects. • Understand project processes and their role in successful completion. • Use project management and accounting software at an intermediate level. • Possess intermediate knowledge of specific trades, scopes of work, self‑perform labor productivity, layout, crane flagging, and rigging. • Understand organizational structure and available resources. • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred. • 5+ years of construction experience and 3+ years of field supervision experience; Lean principles experience preferred. • Valid unrestricted driver’s license required. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • May require travel, relocation, and exposure to extreme temperatures. • Willingness to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs. • Frequent activities: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling. • Occasional activities: sitting, viewing computer screen.
