About the Role
• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft personnel. • Implement the pre‑construction quality plan and three‑phase inspection system. • Obtain and manage construction permits, fee payments, and recurring expenses. • Develop and maintain material tracking, test/inspection logs, concrete placement, and non‑conformance reports. • Manage contract documents, electronic RFIs, correspondence handling, and project close‑out procedures. • Oversee testing, inspection, reporting schedules, and notify the Project Manager/Superintendent of non‑conforming results. • Manage submittals: set up registers, obtain approvals, prepare transmittals, expedite packaging, and communicate processes to subcontractors. • Issue RFI and Change Order documentation and coordinate subcontractor insurance, paperwork, and final payments. • Mentor, manage, and evaluate field engineers; determine alternative work methods; coordinate safety and compliance; and maintain project schedules.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer I who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. The role requires flexibility, resourcefulness, proactivity, efficiency, and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The engineer will review, analyze, manage, and resolve field coordination issues with project team members and participants. The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management and have at least two years of related construction experience. Strong attention to detail, understanding of construction law, teamwork, initiative, communication, problem‑solving, and a professional attitude are essential, along with a valid driver’s license.

Benefits
Compensation ranges from $84,100 to $113,500, with higher ranges for certain locations, and the position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
