About the Role

In this role the engineer will lead the design of plumbing and fire‑protection systems, coordinate with other MEP disciplines, and serve as a key liaison with clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction. • Lead design engineering for plumbing and fire protection systems across MEP disciplines. • Conduct field surveys, system assessments, and commissioning activities. • Attend coordination meetings and perform site visits. • Perform calculations under senior engineer guidance. • Produce clear drawings that meet client requirements and firm standards. • Apply ICC, NFPA, local, and NYC codes, including code interpretation. • Conduct peer reviews and provide QA/QC oversight. • Assist business development by expanding client relationships and cross‑selling services. • Develop fire safety plans, fire, smoke & egress modeling, and oversee FLS commissioning.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in fire protection, electrical, or mechanical engineering, possess at least eight years of field experience in fire‑protection and fire‑alarm design, and demonstrate proficiency with relevant codes (ICC, NFPA, NYC) and design tools such as AutoCAD‑MEP and Revit. Certifications such as NICET and multistate licensure are preferred, and the ability to obtain a federal security clearance is required. • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. • Minimum 8 + years of fire protection and fire alarm system design experience. • Knowledge of ICC, NFPA, local codes, and NYC codes. • NICET certification in fire alarm or fire protection (or obtain within 2 years). • Multistate licensure preferred (or obtain within 2‑4 years). • Ability to obtain federal security clearance. • Proficiency with AutoCAD‑MEP and Revit. • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills. • Willingness to travel and meet project deadlines.
