About the Role
The role aligns corporate and market safety strategies, oversees DriveCam system management, and leads the Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention program. It also coordinates safety communications, manages incident investigations and root‑cause analysis, develops District Specific Safety Plans, and ensures compliance with hazardous energy control, DOT, OSHA, and other regulations. Additional duties include facility safety system oversight, safety recognition program management, employee health monitoring, PPE procurement, and people development. • Align corporate and market safety strategies with senior leadership. • Oversee DriveCam system management, including analysis, reporting, coaching, and ride‑alongs. • Lead Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention program and conduct protection validation studies. • Coordinate safety communications and disseminate EH&S policies and awareness messaging. • Manage incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and reporting in the WM EH&S portal. • Develop and maintain District Specific Safety Plans based on incident trend analysis. • Supervise Hazardous Energy Control Program training and compliance. • Ensure adherence to federal and state DOT/OSHA regulations through internal and external expertise. • Oversee facility safety systems, fire protection, equipment installation reviews, and emergency preparedness. • Administer safety recognition programs with performance criteria and feedback mechanisms. • Partner with corporate health experts to implement medical monitoring and industrial hygiene programs. • Act as subject‑matter expert for personal protective equipment procurement and supply chain coordination. • Coach and develop market area personnel on risk management, observations, and safety performance. • Supervise two full‑time Safety Coordinators.

What You Bring
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree (or a high school diploma plus four years of relevant experience) and five to seven years of safety or operations management experience. Preferred certifications are CSP, CIH, PE, QEP, REM, and CHMM. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of safety rules and regulations, excellent communication and leadership skills, and experience with public speaking. • Preferred certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Professional Engineer (PE), Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).

The position involves hybrid work, frequent travel within the market area, and supervision of two full‑time Safety Coordinators. Compensation ranges from $111,205 to $144,440 with incentive pay, and the benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, a 401(k) match, stock purchase plan, and paid time off.
