About the Role
The engineer will work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to design complex secondary and protection systems for substations and high‑voltage networks. Collaboration will extend across the country, integrating engineering, SCADA, and project delivery disciplines to reshape transport and energy services. • Lead HV substation secondary design (1 kV–132 kV+), including protection, control, SCADA, and AC/DC systems. • Perform power system studies: protection coordination, load flow, short‑circuit, and arc‑flash assessments. • Produce protection drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, CT/VT calculations, and relay setting reports. • Select protection relays, develop technical specifications, and prepare relay settings. • Coordinate integrated designs with primary, SCADA, E&B, clients, utilities, contractors and suppliers. • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. • Support proposal and bid development across multiple market sectors. • Ensure design quality, standards compliance and conduct design checking. • Identify new business opportunities and support team growth.

What You Bring
• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering accredited by the Washington Accord (or equivalent) and Chartered Engineer status (CPEng/RPEQ/RPEV) or ability to attain. • Proven consulting/design experience for transport clients and leadership of complex projects. • Deep knowledge of protection and control design, AC/DC auxiliary, SCADA and secondary system studies. • MTM Designer/Checker accreditation (or obtainable within 6 months) and experience with DNSPs/TNSPs preferred. • Familiarity with protection relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB, Schneider) and strong written/ verbal communication. • Strong organisational, project‑management and client‑facing skills. • Access to high‑visibility transport, energy and defence projects.
