About the Role
The manager will monitor external trends and emerging best practices to keep HDR an employer of choice, using proactive programs, coaching, and data‑informed insights. By aligning employee needs with HDR’s goals and values, you will advance a preventative, forward‑thinking employee‑relations approach that enhances experience and builds trust. Critical and strategic thinking will be essential for identifying root causes and developing actionable solutions. This role supports the inclusive environment championed by HDR’s employee‑owner culture. • Provide guidance on escalated employee relations issues, including disciplinary action, performance management, and conflict resolution. • Conduct thorough and timely investigations of escalated employee complaints and serious policy violations fairly and consistently. • Assist with legal and compliance matters such as lawsuits and audits. • Advise on reductions in force and terminations in partnership with HR and management. • Guide HR on complex ADA accommodation requests. • Support employee relations initiatives aligned with HDR policies, business objectives, and employee needs. • Monitor hotline case tracking system for timely entry, updates, and closures. • Track and analyze employee relations data to identify root causes and develop actionable solutions and preventative training. • Apply critical and strategic thinking to drive success.

What You Bring
We are seeking an Employee Relations Manager who couples deep knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law with a belief that strong relationships, trust, and proactive support enable teams to thrive. The role requires analytical problem‑solving, clear communication, and the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance for employees and leaders. As a collaborative partner, you will help shape a culture where concerns are prevented, voices are valued, and fair, people‑focused practices are the norm. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, at least eight years of progressive employee‑relations experience, and preferably a professional HR certification. Strong knowledge of labor law, analytical abilities, and excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential. • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field. • Minimum eight years of progressive employee relations experience. • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP) preferred. • Strong knowledge of labor law and HR best practices. • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. • Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. • Ability to build and maintain positive employee relationships and clearly convey policies. • Experience leveraging data analysis tools for strategy development. • High discretion and professionalism handling sensitive confidential information. • Conflict resolution expertise.
