About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will create component, assembly, and system designs with full life‑cycle justification that meet requirements for life, cost, availability, and safety margins. You will develop full life‑cycle design solutions from concept through disposal. You will integrate cross‑discipline concepts and collaborate with manufacturing, simulation, materials, testing, and supply‑chain teams. Design documentation will be produced, verified against established mechanical engineering standards, and presented at technical reviews before peers and expert panels. You will publish safety and technical reports subject to customer and regulatory scrutiny. • Create component, assembly, and system designs with full life‑cycle justification from concept to disposal. • Integrate cross‑discipline engineering concepts and collaborate with manufacturing, simulation, materials, testing, and supply‑chain teams. • Produce and verify design documentation against mechanical engineering standards and present at technical reviews. • Publish safety and technical reports subject to customer and regulatory scrutiny. • Provide continuous learning, inclusive digital‑first culture, and development opportunities.

What You Bring
We seek experienced Mechanical Design Engineers, preferably with exposure to process plant, mechanical components, machining, tooling, handling, lifting, or special‑purpose machinery. Proficiency with CAD design software and relevant qualifications (Chartered, Degree, HND/HNC, apprenticeship) or equivalent experience is required. Experience from civil nuclear, marine, petro‑chemical, oil & gas, or special‑purpose machinery sectors is valued. To work for Rolls‑Royce Submarines you must hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without caveats; the company will support the application if needed. You must be a UK national, and any dual nationals will undergo additional scrutiny and background checks before commencing work. • Require experience with process plant, mechanical components, machining, tooling, handling, lifting, or special‑purpose machinery. • Proficiency in CAD design software and relevant qualifications (Chartered, Degree, HND/HNC, apprenticeship). • Preferred background in civil nuclear, marine, petro‑chemical, oil & gas, or special‑purpose machinery sectors. • Support security clearance application and require UK nationality.
