Construction Senior Electrical Engineer - Solar

About the Role

• Lead technical support for electrical aspects of solar construction projects. • Determine optimal layout of collection systems considering constraints. • Review manufacturer data for wiring, grounding, power factor, lightning protection, and generator outputs. • Verify construction compliance with electrical design drawings and conduct QA/QC meetings. • Oversee electrical engineering design and equipment procurement, managing submittals, transmittals, and RFIs. • Provide technical expertise to all project parties. • Ensure subcontractors understand scope during bidding and provide ongoing electrical support. • Coordinate with local utilities for grid interconnection. • Perform loss calculations for 100% output/annualized performance. • Develop one-line diagrams and standard electrical construction details for collection systems and substations. • Maintain relationships with site visitors, customers, architects, unions, and subcontractors. • Lead site work efficiently, suggest improvements, coach team members, and manage performance.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. • Minimum three years of experience in electrical construction management or design. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%. • Basic understanding of construction law, business practices, and NEC/NE safety codes. • Knowledge of construction techniques and project management. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project, and web applications. • Strong active listening and effective communication skills. • Familiarity with equal employment opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans.

The position offers a base salary range of $102,000‑$137,700 (higher in certain locations) and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
