About the Role

Working alongside the Production Manager, the Foreperson will run toolbox meetings, brief crews, and manage stock levels and inventory, while also operating modern machinery and handling additional duties. • Supervise asphalt production and support the production team • Plan, organise and direct production operations to high standards • Operate the asphalt plant when required • Conduct toolbox meetings and crew briefings • Manage stock levels and inventory • Operate modern machinery and perform additional duties

What You Bring

The Downer South division, known for its high‑standard work nationwide, seeks an experienced or emerging Foreperson to supervise asphalt production and support the production team. The role involves leading the crew, planning and directing operations, and operating the asphalt plant when required. Ideal candidates are physically fit, hold a full Class 1 New Zealand driver’s licence (WTR endorsement preferred), and have production or asphalt experience. Strong communication, leadership, organized work habits, and the ability to make confident decisions are essential, along with willingness to respond to after‑hours call‑outs. • Physically fit and motivated • Hold a full Class 1 New Zealand driver’s licence (WTR endorsement preferred) • Production or asphalt experience (beneficial) • Organised, systematic work approach • Previous leadership experience (beneficial) • Strong communication with crew, clients and senior managers • Show initiative, confident decision‑making and problem‑solving • Available for after‑hours call‑outs when rostered • Complete pre‑employment drug test, medical assessment and Ministry of Justice check
