About the Role
The Estimator role focuses on preparing accurate cost proposals for construction projects using plans, blueprints, pricing software, and various costing indexes. Responsibilities include supporting project close‑out, handling RFIs and submittals, and collaborating with project principals to monitor expenditures, bid specifications, change orders, and budgets. The position also aids in developing and maintaining the Gordian unit price book (UPB) and related databases to enhance efficiency and cost savings. The Estimator’s duties cover the entire estimating lifecycle, from evaluating subcontractor bids and reviewing contract documents to generating purchase requisitions and independent cost estimates. The role requires tracking proposal activities, preparing invoicing documentation, and maintaining up‑to‑date estimating standards through analysis of historical cost data. • Develop activity durations, evaluate subcontractor estimates, and recommend adjustments. • Review contract documents and project modifications to assist superintendents with scopes, RFIs, and field changes. • Utilize pricing manuals, software, and calculators to calculate and analyze job estimates. • Track proposal activities and meet with management and customers to review project status. • Prepare invoicing documentation for UPB providers using approved proposals. • Generate purchase requisitions to initiate subcontractor procurement from pricing to award phases. • Create independent cost estimates for unique trades to satisfy procurement requirements. • Update and submit Facility Equipment Lists to customers as required by contracts. • Accumulate and analyze historical cost data to maintain current estimating standards and databases. • Build and expand partnerships with subcontractors, collaborating with procurement as needed. • Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and participation in professional societies.

What You Bring
Mandatory qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, experience with UPB proposals and pricing software, and the ability to manage multiple projects valued at $125,000 or more. Candidates must be organized, proficient in Microsoft Office, U.S. citizens, able to obtain a security clearance, and possess a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications are an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction or a related field, knowledge of government contracts (FAR, Davis‑Bacon), and an existing intelligence‑level clearance. Physical requirements involve the ability to lift 50 pounds. • Mandatory: High School diploma/GED, UPB proposal experience, ability to manage multiple $125k+ projects, Microsoft Office proficiency, U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain security clearance, valid driver’s license.

Benefits
