About the Role
The technician will perform field and office tasks that apply basic scientific principles, such as groundwater and soil sampling, operation of GPS and other monitoring equipment, and supervision of drillers and contractors. Responsibilities also include completing safety and field documentation, analyzing collected data, and contributing to technical reports while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance. • Conduct field monitoring, groundwater and soil sampling using GPS, data loggers, gas meters, etc. • Supervise drillers and contractors, ensuring safety and compliance. • Analyze environmental data and support technical report writing.

What You Bring
Parsons is seeking a talented Environmental Field Technician/Scientist for its Winnipeg‑based team, working primarily on active and vacant downstream oil and gas properties. The role involves both independent field work and collaboration with contractors to conduct monitoring, sampling, and site investigations. Candidates must hold a degree or diploma in a relevant science or engineering discipline and be able to take prime responsibility for work execution. They should be physically fit for field conditions, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrate strong attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, and hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence. Experience on downstream oil and gas sites and at least one year of relevant experience are considered assets, as is familiarity with the geographic region of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. The position is part of Parsons’ Critical Infrastructure team, which designs and delivers projects that improve community quality of life through sustainable and resilient solutions. • Complete field documentation: JSA forms, field reports, chain‑of‑custody forms. • Travel up to 90% of time, including overnight stays and weekend/evening work. • Hold a degree/diploma in environmental, engineering, or scientific discipline. • Demonstrate ability to work independently and be physically fit for field conditions. • Possess strong written/oral communication, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills. • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and willingness to travel across MB, SK, NWT. • Experience on downstream oil & gas sites and at least 1 year of relevant experience (preferred).
