About the Role

The Draftsperson will create accurate technical drawings and models to support sheet metal fabrication and electrical assembly operations. This role ensures compliance with industry standards and internal specifications, enabling efficient production and assembly processes. Responsibilities include developing detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks, interpreting engineering sketches and specifications, and applying ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and GD&T standards. The Draftsperson collaborates with engineers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly, maintains drawing revisions and documentation control, and prepares bills of materials and complete drawing packages for production. They also ensure compliance with applicable codes (ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, UL) and assist in troubleshooting design issues, updating drawings based on feedback from fabrication and assembly teams. • Create 2D and 3D technical drawings for sheet metal and electrical assemblies using CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks). • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design requirements. • Apply ASME Y14.5 dimensioning, tolerancing, and GD&T standards. • Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for manufacturability. • Maintain drawing revisions and documentation control per company standards. • Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and deliver complete drawing packages to production. • Ensure compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, and UL codes. • Troubleshoot design issues and update drawings based on fabrication feedback. • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

What You Bring

Candidates must have an Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field, and at least one year of experience with CAD tools. Additional requirements include the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, experience with electrical enclosure design, understanding of ERP systems for BOM management, and knowledge of UL, IEEE, and NEMA standards. Only applicants within a 50‑mile radius of Williamsburg, VA are considered (Active Duty Military are exempt), and no relocation benefit is offered. • Hold an Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting/Mechanical Design. • Minimum one year of experience with CAD tools (Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks). • Experience with electrical enclosure design and layout. • Understand ERP systems for BOM management. • Knowledge of UL, IEEE, and NEMA standards for electrical assemblies. • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Williamsburg, VA (military exempt); no relocation assistance offered.
