Assist construction managers with project execution, scheduling, inspections, and reporting.

About the Role
• Assist the Construction Manager, Resident Project Representative, and/or Construction Engineer with all facets of project execution • Review and verify construction schedules and help prepare cost estimates and specifications • Perform routine engineering tasks using spreadsheets, databases, and scheduling software • Work independently on small projects or support senior staff on larger ones • Provide direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed • Observe and document construction progress for civil infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, railroads, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, pipelines) • Monitor, record, and inspect construction progress on site • Conduct or coordinate field material sampling and testing (concrete slump, air testing, cylinder casting, soil compaction) • Observe foundation installations, including pile driving and drilled shafts • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies • Compose daily logs, personnel reports, and photographs for client communication

What You Bring
• Travel 50%–100% for meetings, site visits, and inspections outside the St. Louis/Kansas City area; possible long‑term assignments • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when interacting with the HDR team, clients, and contractors • Pass required drug‑screening and comply with random and cause testing • Show eagerness to learn, ask questions, and perform new duties under supervision • Exhibit professionalism with clients • Maintain a valid driver’s license according to state law • Hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or commit to obtaining one for career progression • Previous construction experience or internships are a plus • Basic understanding of survey equipment for construction verification • DOT Certified Inspector certifications are advantageous • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field • Proficiency with MS Office, Primavera, scheduling software, spreadsheets, and databases • Interest or experience in the construction field • Excellent oral and written communication skills
