About the Role

In this role you will observe and document field activities related to construction, sample and test soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel, and perform calculations and data reduction of test results while drafting reports. You will operate field screening equipment, read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans. Daily interaction with contractors, technicians, and project managers will be required, and you will eventually serve as the sole representative of ECS on project sites. • Observe and document construction field activities. • Sample, test, and inspect soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel. • Perform calculations, data reduction, and draft test result reports. • Operate field screening equipment and record readings. • Read maps and interpret engineering and construction plans. • Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers. • Serve as the sole ECS representative on project sites. • Provide reliable transportation for site travel (mileage reimbursed).

What You Bring

We are seeking candidates actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, who have a strong interest in how building materials are used in construction. The position involves frequently lifting 40–70 lb and occasionally 85 lb to waist height, and candidates must have reliable transportation for job sites (mileage reimbursed). Relocation assistance is not provided, and compensation ranges from $16 to $20 per hour, adjusted for location and qualifications. • Pursue a B.S. or M.S. in civil engineering, construction management, or related discipline. • Ability to lift 40–70 lb repeatedly and occasionally 85 lb to waist height.
