About the Role

Join our Fabrications team and play a vital role in shaping the future of water infrastructure across the UK. As a Mechanical Estimator you will help secure high‑quality, commercially successful projects by producing accurate, competitive tenders that win work and support our long‑term growth. You will work within a collaborative, experienced team on a diverse range of clean water, wastewater and sludge treatment projects, backed by established frameworks and a strong pipeline into AMP 8. You will be responsible for preparing enquiry schedules, selecting suitable suppliers and subcontractors, obtaining and analysing quotations, and supporting commercial decision‑making. You will produce analytical rate build‑ups, Bills of Quantities, and cost estimates, update cost data, identify commercial opportunities and risks, and present cost information at tender finalisation meetings. You will also assist with contractual reviews, insurance, bonds, warranties, and maintain tender risk registers as required. • Prepare enquiry schedules and work with internal teams to select suitable suppliers and subcontractors. • Obtain and analyse quotations to support commercial decision‑making. • Collate information for reviewing contractual conditions, insurance, bonds and warranties. • Produce clear, accurate analytical rate build‑ups and Bills of Quantities. • Update and refine cost data from project feedback for continual improvement. • Identify commercial opportunities and risks, including creating tender risk registers. • Prepare preliminary cost estimates and commercial tender documentation. • Attend tender finalisation meetings, present cost data, and complete submissions. • Contribute across the full tendering cycle.

What You Bring

The position is for a Mechanical Estimator based in the United Kingdom. We are looking for a candidate with strong verbal and written communication, influencing and negotiation skills, and effective time‑management. Experience in clean water, wastewater or sludge treatment, knowledge of contract conditions and asset standards, and the ability to read or produce P&IDs and process flow diagrams are preferred. A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent, high commercial awareness, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a commitment to health and safety aligned with our values are essential. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong influencing, negotiation and decision‑making abilities. • Effective time‑management with the ability to plan and prioritize. • Experience in clean water, wastewater or sludge treatment (preferred). • Understanding of contract conditions and Clients’ Asset Standards/WIMES specifications. • Ability to interpret or produce P&IDs and process flow diagrams. • High commercial awareness and technical knowledge. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Knowledge of estimating processes and risk management techniques. • Relevant experience or transferable skills from a similar environment. • A Level 3 NVQ, Certificate Level qualification, or equivalent.
