About the Role
The Telecommunications Designer role can be based in any of our U.S. offices (Troy, NY; New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; Milwaukee, WI; Tempe, AZ; Herndon, VA). You will be responsible for designing outside‑plant pathways, MMR/IDF and cable‑tray layouts, wireless access points, and structured‑cabling infrastructure that support our controls network. The position requires independent work on BIM/CAD assignments, coordination with multi‑disciplinary teams, and participation throughout design and construction phases. • Design Outside Plant pathways, MMR/IDF, cable‑tray, wireless access point, and structured‑cabling layouts using BIM/Revit. • Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D BIM models for multi‑disciplinary engineering projects. • Design low‑voltage systems including telecommunications, audio‑visual, security, and control integrations. • Perform QA/QC reviews of design packages and ensure compliance with project schedules. • Conduct site surveys, evaluate existing conditions, and develop equipment, conduit, floor‑plan and riser diagrams. • Prepare cable schedules, specifications, and construction administration documentation. • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and building owners to issue drawing and specification sets. • Research and recommend components, implement best‑practice procedures, and integrate project requirements into mission‑critical designs. • Represent the Telecom discipline in internal and client‑facing meetings. • Lead the Telecom design team and mentor junior designers throughout project phases. • Support the design and construction stages independently, addressing site‑specific challenges. • Collaborate within multi‑disciplinary teams to ensure cohesive project delivery.

What You Bring
We are seeking a self‑starter with strong communication skills who enjoys collaborating with internal and external design, client, and construction teams. The ideal candidate has deep experience in Revit and AutoCAD, as well as a solid background in information and communications technology. Mentoring junior designers and leading the Telecom design team are key aspects of the role. Required qualifications include 3‑5 years of low‑voltage system design for commercial, industrial or mission‑critical facilities, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), and proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit. Preferred credentials are mission‑critical/data‑center experience, international project exposure, and RCDD or DCDC certifications. • 3–5 years experience designing low‑voltage systems for commercial, industrial, or data‑center environments. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience. • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit for BIM/CAD design. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail. • Ability to travel to project sites and adhere to safety, health, and harassment policies. • Preferred: mission‑critical/data‑center project experience, international project exposure, and RCDD or DCDC certification.
