About the Role
The Environmental Services (ES) Field Technician II works under general supervision, receives general work instructions, and applies limited judgment in resolving problems. Work is semi‑routine in nature, and the incumbent makes decisions within a moderate scope, while also having the opportunity to train or guide less experienced team members. The role performs operational functions related to emergency response, hazardous and non‑hazardous spill clean‑up, and hazmat decontamination work. Key duties include tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping, shoveling, high‑pressure washing, and other remedial activities performed in confined spaces such as manholes. The technician responds to customer spills and emergencies both during regular business hours and after hours, maintains general housekeeping, and operates light and heavy equipment including roll‑off trucks, vacuum trucks, box trucks, skid steer, forklift, pumps, and pallet‑jacks. Pre‑trip and post‑trip DOT inspections are performed, vehicle logs are maintained, and all tasks are carried out safely in compliance with safety policies and regulations.

What You Bring
Candidates should be able to read, write, and comprehend operational, technical, safety and quality documents, and be skilled in using hand and shop tools and instruments. They must understand chemical hazards, read safety data sheets, and be willing to provide input on working practices, inform colleagues of unsafe conditions, and demonstrate a positive attitude and mental resilience. Additional expectations include adherence to company policies, accurate attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, proficiency with light tablet/PC use, and a general understanding of waste management processes. A Class C driver’s license with Hazmat endorsement, a current confined‑space entry certificate (or ability to obtain one), and in some states, equipment operation certifications may be required. Minimum qualifications include 2‑4 years of relevant experience, the ability to pass a 40‑hour HAZWOPER training upon hire, and the physical capability to move objects up to 50 lb while operating light and heavy equipment in hazardous or non‑hazardous emergencies.
