About the Role

The Staff Accountant supports the Controller and CFO in daily accounting activities for MIC, handling documentation, reconciliations, and account‑level analysis. This role helps maintain the finance team’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. It is a part‑time position working approximately 25 hours per week. The accountant will analyze and troubleshoot general‑ledger accounts, prepare journal and corrective entries, and compile month‑end work papers. Responsibilities include ensuring SOX controls, reviewing accounts payable batches, preparing monthly and quarterly corporate deliverables, reconciling cash transactions, and maintaining fixed‑asset records. The role also involves tax research, audit support, cross‑departmental assistance, and execution of special financial projects. • Analyze and reconcile general‑ledger accounts • Prepare journal and corrective entries • Compile month‑end work papers • Ensure SOX controls and compliance • Review accounts payable batches and checks • Prepare monthly and quarterly corporate deliverables • Reconcile daily and monthly cash transactions • Maintain fixed‑asset records and internal reports • Research state sales, use, and gross receipts tax regulations • Review and correct sales/use tax returns • Support accurate 1099 preparation • Coordinate internal and external audit information • Assist various departments with accounting functions • Lead special financial or operational projects • Provide information to HR, project managers, and administrative staff • Review and set up vendor accounts

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and possess two to five years of relevant accounting experience, with audit experience considered a plus. Proficiency in Viewpoint, Spectrum, or similar construction software and strong Excel skills are required. The position also demands strong communication, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. The position primarily involves prolonged desk work with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and may require up to 25 % travel.
