About the Role

The role of Associate Director – Environment Impact Assessment is open in Newcastle, leading a dedicated Impact Assessment and Planning team. You will join eight environmental impact specialists and oversee assessments for renewable energy, transmission, transport, water, and industrial projects, including pioneering EIS work such as the first offshore wind farm and the nation’s longest road tunnel. As a senior leader, you will manage daily activities of the eight‑person team, ensuring alignment with AECOM policies while supporting staff wellbeing, retention, and development. Collaboration with the Sydney and Canberra Impact Assessment leaders will shape annual work plans, resource allocation, and cross‑office delivery. You will also track the team’s pipeline of opportunities to drive strong business performance. • Lead and manage a team of eight+ environmental impact professionals in Newcastle. • Align daily team activities with AECOM policies and procedures. • Promote staff wellbeing, retention, development, and engagement. • Coordinate with Sydney and Canberra teams on work plans, resource allocation, and cross‑office delivery. • Maintain visibility of the team’s opportunity pipeline and drive strong business performance. • Deliver high‑quality environmental impact assessments, constraints analyses, strategic assessments, and management plans. • Build and sustain client relationships through quality delivery and commercial insight.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate brings extensive senior‑level environmental approvals experience and a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, planning, or engineering. You should demonstrate a proven ability to grow and develop high‑performing teams, build client relationships through quality delivery, and possess deep technical competence in assessments, due diligence, and land‑use planning.
