About the Role

The Senior Software Architect role is based in Huntsville and focuses on modular software design and architecture for mission needs across multiple DoW customers. The position leads Open Systems Architectures, collaborating with diverse teams to drive innovation and deliver mission‑ready capabilities. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and executing the software components of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems, ensuring successful integration with existing aviation platforms. The architect will engage with DoW clients such as Army Aviation, NAVAIR and the Air Force, as well as sub‑tier suppliers, to align solutions with Modular Open System Approach (MOSA) principles and contribute to a broader Modular Mission Software Strategy that accelerates technology upgrades and capability insertion. • Plan, develop, and execute software aspects of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems. • Ensure IMA software integrates successfully with existing aviation platforms. • Engage with DoW clients (Army Aviation, NAVAIR, Air Force) and sub‑tier suppliers. • Contribute to Modular Mission Software Strategy for rapid technology upgrades.

What You Bring

Basic qualifications require U.S. citizenship, a security clearance, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science combined with at least 10 years of experience in RTCA/DO‑178 processes, safety‑critical real‑time operating systems, and RTCA/DO‑297 for defense aviation. Experience with MOSA, FACE, airworthiness processes, and reference architectures such as EAF, AMS‑GRA, A‑GRA, FAF, OMS, and Big Iron is essential. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and knowledge of CAST‑32A.
