About the Role

This role serves a single client as part of a large, global sustainability team and reports to the America’s sustainability team lead. You will develop waste‑management strategies for a portfolio of sites and pilot innovative programs such as hard‑to‑recycle solutions, advanced sorting initiatives, and zero‑waste projects. The position also supports JLL’s business objectives by managing data collection, reporting, and providing subject‑matter expertise on sustainability. Daily responsibilities include designing and executing waste‑management strategies, working with food‑and‑beverage teams on food‑waste reduction, and creating durable‑goods programs. You will build and maintain central data tools and forecasting capabilities in partnership with data teams while overseeing visual waste audits. Managing energy, waste, and water data within JLL’s technology platform and producing monthly and quarterly reports is essential. As a sustainability SME, you will educate stakeholders, guide facility managers, and collaborate with energy managers to identify performance‑improvement opportunities across real‑estate portfolios. • Design and execute waste‑management strategies for multiple sites, including zero‑waste and hard‑to‑recycle initiatives. • Partner with food‑and‑beverage teams to implement food‑waste reduction and upstream waste programs. • Create and maintain centralized data tools, dashboards and forecasting models for waste and sustainability metrics. • Manage collection, entry and reporting of energy, waste and water data within JLL’s technology platform. • Produce tailored monthly and quarterly sustainability performance reports for the client. • Serve as subject‑matter expert to educate stakeholders and guide facility and energy managers on sustainability topics. • Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance environmental performance across the portfolio.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a university degree in science, engineering, math or a related field and 5‑10 years of progressive experience in energy or sustainability. Candidates must have strong experience in waste‑management program development, waste auditing, and landfill‑diversion strategies, as well as expertise in creating data tools, dashboards and forecasting models. A technical understanding of HVAC, electrical, mechanical and building‑automation systems and advanced knowledge of energy‑ and water‑conservation measures, GHG scopes, and renewable‑energy procurement is required. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are needed to lead technical support teams strategically. Preferred qualifications include experience delivering zero‑waste programs or certifications and knowledge of hard‑to‑recycle materials and circular‑economy principles. Experience partnering with F&B operations on upstream waste prevention, conducting site walkthroughs for ASHRAE Level 1–2 measures, and strong project‑management abilities are valued. Familiarity with tender preparation, equipment selection, ISO 14001 compliance, and utility‑budget management is also a plus. The position is onsite in Arlington, VA or Seattle, WA. Estimated total compensation ranges from $110,000 to $150,000 per year, with final packages determined by qualifications, location and market conditions.
