About the Role
The Technical Director will manage the overall EA and preliminary design portfolio on both MTO and municipal projects, lead a multidisciplinary team, ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards, and play a key role in growing our EA and PD business. Key responsibilities include overseeing highway design, environmental planning, project management, team leadership, budget and schedule management, stakeholder communication, and problem‑solving, as well as supervising staff and providing professional development. • Lead and manage environmental assessment and preliminary design projects for MTO and municipal road and highway projects. • Ensure all projects comply with environmental regulations, sustainability standards, and relevant design codes (MTO, TAC). • Oversee highway design elements including geometry, alignments, drainage, earthworks and pavement design. • Direct multidisciplinary teams, provide training, conduct performance reviews and foster collaborative work culture. • Develop and manage project budgets, resources, timelines, and deliverables using project management tools. • Coordinate public consultation programs, analyze alternatives, and document planning processes. • Communicate technical concepts clearly to clients, stakeholders and regulatory agencies. • Solve complex technical issues and make critical decisions to keep projects on track.

What You Bring
Required qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, a Professional Engineer licence, 12+ years of experience delivering major EA and PD projects, hands‑on project management for MTO projects, and proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related) and be a Licensed Professional Engineer. • Possess 12+ years of experience delivering major environmental assessment and preliminary design projects. • Demonstrated hands‑on project management experience on major MTO EA and PD projects.
