About the Role

The Senior HSEQ and Risk Manager will support the Project Director and senior leadership team to implement workplace health and safety, rail safety, workers’ compensation, environmental, quality and risk processes. The role provides advice, mentoring and governance to continually improve safety, environmental performance and risk management while meeting legal and UGL standards. Key duties include leading the HSE, Quality and Risk teams, guiding the board on safety performance, overseeing audit programs, developing improvement initiatives and managing incident reporting and investigations. The manager also aligns regional practices with the UGL Group HSE strategy and maintains the management system for sustainability, heritage, environmental and rail safety aspects. • Lead and develop the HSE, Quality, Risk, Rail Safety, Environment, Heritage, and Contaminated Lands teams. • Advise the UGL Regional Linx board on operational safety performance and prepare periodic and incident reports. • Ensure enhancement projects comply with UGL Management System requirements and WHS regulations for principal contractors. • Identify, control, and visibly lead HSE requirements across all contract scopes, including property, contaminated lands, and maintenance works. • Balance on‑site support with administrative HSE responsibilities. • Manage audit programs, disseminate outcomes, and track corrective actions to closure. • Design and implement HSE improvement initiatives aligned with business needs. • Develop, review, and roll out a safety improvement strategy. • Oversee incident management processes, ensuring timely reporting and thorough investigations. • Coordinate with the UGL Group HSE function to align regional activities with corporate strategy. • Run the safety culture program and continuous improvement strategy. • Administer the safety governance program, including internal and external audits and management reviews. • Create and maintain the Management System sections for HSE, sustainability, heritage, environmental and rail safety.

What You Bring

• Hold tertiary qualifications in safety, engineering, health science or environment. • Possess lead auditor qualification and investigation training, preferably ICAM. • Hold Rail Industry Safety Induction, Cert IV Training and Assessment, and ISAP accreditation. • Bring at least 10 years of experience in the rail safety environment.
