About the Role
Within the New Build and Components Business for Nuclear Submarines, the engineer supports the Manufacturing Services Manager to deliver organisational objectives. Responsibilities include coordinating fault finding, defining the technical basis of maintenance, acting as a subject‑matter expert for automated welding systems, establishing archiving for software and machine parameters, and analysing data to support key performance indicators. The role also provides technical assistance for machine or process failures, liaises with OEMs and specialists, supports other business units and suppliers, suggests work‑instruction improvements, and leads reliability‑engineering projects to boost equipment availability. • Troubleshoot, repair, diagnose and calibrate automated/robotic welding systems and CNC machine tools. • Coordinate fault finding and define technical maintenance basis as SME for automated welding equipment. • Establish and maintain archiving systems for software and machine parameters. • Collect, organise and analyse data to support Manufacturing Services KPIs. • Provide technical assistance for machine or process failures and liaise with OEMs and specialists. • Support other Rolls‑Royce business units and manufacturing suppliers as needed. • Propose improvements to work instructions and define maintenance strategies. • Lead reliability‑engineering projects to increase machine reliability and equipment availability. • Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions. • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and asset‑management best practices.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate has senior‑service or control‑systems engineering experience with automated welding systems or CNC tools, strong root‑cause analysis skills, and knowledge of industry regulations and asset‑management best practices. They should be self‑motivated, energetic, with excellent cross‑functional collaboration, and able to lead and influence at all levels. Desirable experience includes automated welding or machining processes and expert knowledge of control‑system integration.
