About the Role
The Dock Line Operator is responsible for securing and removing a ship’s dock lines at port, performing heavy manual labor for extended periods in all weather conditions. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work safely under demanding circumstances. Key duties include catching and throwing heavy lines, pulling mooring lines down the dock to secure them to bollards, and removing those lines after vessel departure. After proper training and approval, the operator may also operate a pedestal crane to move cargo and personnel at levels 3 and 4. The position works under close supervision, following detailed work instructions while applying basic judgment to resolve routine issues.
