Job Highlights
About the Role
The Senior Power System Controls Engineer provides field‑service systems‑integration engineering and technical consultation for customers and fellow PSC engineers across system design, programming, installation, start‑up, maintenance, repair, training and modification of automated control and power‑management systems. The Power Systems Controls (PSC) group is a full‑service integrator that combines equipment and technologies to deliver complete power‑automation solutions. The team leverages extensive experience with leading HMI software packages to create graphically rich, user‑friendly operator interfaces using both standalone and web‑based technologies. In this role you will follow customer and internal specifications, prepare submittal documentation and meet with clients to discuss requirements and review submittals. You will select components, create bills of material, provide sketches and mark‑ups to electrical designers, and review and approve project drawings, including completing CAD drawings when needed. The engineer ensures that projects include proper controls, metering and monitoring, such as power meters, PLC/HMI automation equipment, protective relays, load‑sharing and synchronization. You will write operating sequences, instruction manuals and custom power‑control schemes—including load‑shedding, peak‑shaving, microgrid operations, breaker control and SCADA system development—ranging from simple to complex automatic transfer controls and paralleling switchgear applications. Responsibilities also include assisting with factory testing and field start‑ups, using test equipment and diagnostic instruments, troubleshooting non‑functioning systems, and working with relay logic and digital multifunction relays for genset protection. • Deliver field‑service integration, design, programming, installation, start‑up, maintenance, repair, training, and modification of automated control and power‑management systems. • Integrate equipment and technologies to provide complete power‑automation solutions, including HMI development and energy‑management tools. • Prepare and review project submittals, specifications, bills of material, and drawings; coordinate with customers and electrical designers. • Develop and implement custom power‑control schemes such as load‑shedding, peak‑shaving, microgrid operations, breaker control, and automatic transfer controls. • Conduct factory testing, field start‑ups, and troubleshooting using test and diagnostic equipment. • Write operating sequences, instruction manuals, and SCADA system code supporting Modbus, DNP3, and IEC‑61850 protocols. • Apply relay logic and configure digital multifunction relays for genset protection and utility requirements.
