Project Engineer - I&C

About the Role

Key responsibilities include preparing scopes of services and technical documentation for DCS, pneumatics, analysers, and instrumentation, and developing detailed I&C schedules with cables, instruments, and I/O assignments. You will also create instrumentation datasheets, select and specify monitoring systems per Sydney Water standards, and review supplier documentation for compliance. Additional duties involve validating control sequences, planning equipment layout, and collaborating with automation teams to integrate instrumentation with process control systems. • Design and specify instrumentation, analysers, pneumatic systems, and control solutions for water and wastewater projects. • Prepare scopes of services and technical documentation for DCS, pneumatics, analysers, and instrumentation. • Develop detailed I&C schedules, including cables, instruments, and I/O assignments. • Create instrumentation datasheets and select monitoring systems in line with Sydney Water standards. • Review supplier documentation to ensure compliance with project and Sydney Water specifications. • Validate control sequences to guarantee accurate data acquisition and process efficiency. • Plan placement of instrumentation and control equipment, including cabinets and plant layouts. • Collaborate with automation teams to integrate instrumentation with process control systems.

What You Bring

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer to contribute to major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across New South Wales, supporting programs for Sydney Water, including treatment plant upgrades and new facility developments. Reporting to the I&C Lead, you will assist in the design and specification of general instrumentation, analysers, pneumatic systems, and process‑focused control solutions. The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or a related discipline, along with extensive I&C engineering experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the water sector. Proven abilities in designing, developing, and implementing plant control and instrumentation solutions, cable termination drawings, and routing design are essential. A solid understanding of Australian and international standards such as AS, IEC, ISO, and ASME is also required. • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or a related field. • Possess extensive I&C engineering experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects, especially in the water sector. • Demonstrate proven ability to design, develop, and implement plant control and instrumentation solutions. • Experience with cable termination drawings and cable routing design. • Knowledge of Australian and international standards such as AS, IEC, ISO, and ASME.
