About the Role

The Apprentice Engineer assists with operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties and facilities. This role supports the overall functionality and safety of the properties and works under supervision to ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing building systems such as packaging machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop and grounds equipment, and HVAC. The Engineer cleans, lubricates, and services pumps, valves, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices, and assists with installation, modification, and replacement of equipment and finishes. They respond promptly to emergencies, inspect for unsafe conditions, maintain fire alarm and pump systems, perform carpentry and snow removal, and adhere to all codes, safety training, and uniform dress standards while using smart devices and building automation systems. The role operates in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Field duties require interaction with building systems and equipment across various sites. • Assist with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of building systems, equipment, and grounds. • Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices. • Install, modify, and replace building equipment, finishes, and fixtures. • Respond promptly to emergency situations and service requests. • Inspect properties for unsafe conditions and conduct preventive maintenance. • Operate and maintain fire alarm, fire pump, and other life safety systems. • Perform carpentry work and snow removal as needed. • Use smart devices and building automation systems for work orders and documentation. • Be available for extended or on‑call shifts, potentially as the sole maintenance staff on duty. • Follow all safety training, company codes, and uniform dress standards.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license (commercial license may be required) with a good driving record, and basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
