About the Role
The engineer will lead and support electrical aspects of projects, determine optimal collection system layouts, review manufacturer data, verify construction against design drawings, and manage design and procurement through submittals and RFIs. They will also coordinate with utilities, perform loss calculations, develop one-line diagrams, and maintain relationships with site stakeholders. • Lead electrical engineering design and equipment procurement, managing submittals, transmittals, and RFIs • Determine optimal collection system layouts considering overhead/underground constraints and junction box locations • Review manufacturer data for wiring, grounding, power factor, lightning protection, and generator outputs • Verify construction aligns with electrical design drawings and conduct QA/QC meetings • Provide technical expertise to all project parties and ensure subcontractors understand scope during bidding • Communicate with local utilities for grid interconnection and perform loss calculations • Develop one-line diagrams and standard electrical construction details for collection systems and substations • Build and maintain relationships with customers, architects, union representatives, and subcontractors • Coach team members, give feedback, and manage performance

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer I to provide electrical technical support throughout construction projects. The role is based in California and requires 100% travel, moving from one project to the next after completion. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, at least three years of electrical construction management or design experience, a valid driver’s license, and familiarity with NEC code and construction practices. Candidates should have intermediate Microsoft Office skills, strong communication and active listening abilities, and be able to travel up to 100%. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least three years of relevant experience • Maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100% of the time • Possess knowledge of NEC code, construction law, and project management practices • Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and web applications
