About the Role

The Traveling Project Manager leads, directs, and coordinates day‑to‑day project management and reports to a Senior Project Manager or Project Executive. The role requires travel to multiple sites across the country, such as Texas, Virginia, Maryland, and Ohio, to support various locations. Responsibilities encompass building high‑performance teams, managing staff development, client relationships, contracts, schedules, budgets, quality, risk, compliance, safety, and community engagement. • Lead development of high‑performance teams through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring. • Provide regular feedback and complete employee performance appraisals. • Manage staff performance and career growth. • Cultivate client relationships to become a trusted advisor. • Administer contracts and subcontract agreements. • Influence change with proactive leadership. • Promote community involvement to build strategic relationships. • Strengthen architect, subcontractor, and vendor collaborations. • Establish, update, and communicate the Master Project Schedule. • Coordinate with preconstruction team on project development. • Oversee budget and financial reporting to ensure fiscal compliance. • Manage the QA/QC program. • Lead risk evaluation, contract negotiations, and pricing decisions. • Ensure compliance with business ethics and corporate policies. • Model accountability and integrity, mentoring staff to high standards. • Supervise field operations and engineering processes. • Guide team on insurance, labor, and employee‑relations requirements. • Enforce safety protocols among project staff. • Initiate and monitor pay applications to secure timely payments. • Report project and budget progress in regular Operations Review meetings. • Champion Turner initiatives, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions. • Foster diversity and inclusion within the project environment.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and at least ten years of related experience, or an equivalent mix of education and training. Required knowledge includes construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, engineering, and accounting principles, as well as strong written and verbal communication, advanced presentation skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. The candidate must be able to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and schedules, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills. The position involves physical requirements such as climbing stairs and ladders, using construction hoists, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as visual abilities including close vision and depth perception. Employees must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in noisy, outdoor, and potentially hazardous construction environments.

Benefits

The role is based in Boston, MA (division: Boston Main) and is a regular, experienced classification within Turner Construction’s Construction family. It is a salaried exempt position with an estimated compensation range of $140,000 to $250,000 depending on experience.
