About the Role
Mortenson seeks a Senior Safety Manager to lead the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project teams and construction sites, providing management, leadership, direction, and support. The role involves planning and implementing Zero Injury initiatives, collaborating with trade and joint‑venture partners, conducting hazard assessments, delivering safety training, overseeing documentation and analysis of safety statistics, monitoring site activities, leading incident reporting and investigations, mentoring safety staff, and supporting safety performance metrics. • Lead implementation of Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program across multiple sites. • Coordinate safety collaboration with trade partners and joint‑venture teams. • Conduct and review site hazard assessments during planning and construction phases. • Develop, schedule, and deliver safety training, including train‑the‑trainer sessions and site‑specific orientations. • Oversee documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety, injury, and hazard statistics and OSHA reporting. • Perform on‑site safety audits, document deficiencies, and enforce corrective actions. • Manage incident reporting, investigations, root‑cause analysis, and coach safety managers on high‑risk plans. • Mentor and develop safety staff, providing learning sessions and professional growth opportunities. • Maintain expertise in construction safety standards such as OSHA, ANSI, and related regulations. • Support safety director and leadership team to achieve performance metrics and assist in incident response.

What You Bring
Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or a related field, or equivalent experience with CHST and OSHA 500, and at least eight years of dedicated construction safety experience managing large or multi‑project programs, preferably with CSP certification; strong organizational, communication, leadership, and travel (up to 100%) abilities are required, along with a valid driver’s license and knowledge of EEO and affirmative action. • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field (or equivalent experience with CHST and OSHA 500). • Minimum 8 years dedicated construction safety experience managing large or multi‑project programs. • Proven experience on complex projects with high subcontractor volumes. • Preferred Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation. • Strong organizational, computer, public speaking, and presentation skills. • Ability to coach and influence project leaders in safety management. • Active listening, inclusive communication, and problem‑solving abilities. • Ability to travel up to 100% and hold a valid driver’s license. • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action policies.
