About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste and recyclable materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. They handle pick‑up services for containers that may exceed 1,000 pounds, navigate high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, and perform highly skilled backing maneuvers. Specific driver types include commercial, residential, and roll‑off drivers, each with distinct responsibilities in various environments. In this role, drivers must follow Waste Management safety rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, and all applicable laws. They conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections, report unsafe situations or incidents, attend required trainings, and work closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency. Additional duties include notifying dispatch of service interruptions, communicating customer requests, ensuring receptacles are emptied and sites left clean, completing end‑of‑day documentation, and assisting other drivers as needed. • Operate trucks with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments in compliance with safety, OSHA and DOT regulations. • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or property damage to management. • Attend all required training sessions, briefings and meetings. • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Notify dispatch of service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests and ensure receptacles are emptied and sites left clean. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Meet physical demands including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching and handling items.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include at least one year of vehicle operation with a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, a minimum age of 18, legal work eligibility, and a valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The position demands various physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
