  • Support commercial teams with grid-related diligence for M&A, PPA, and offtake agreements.
  • Lead or support field assessments during pre-construction to validate design assumptions and site constructability.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical standards, templates, and best practices for utility-scale energy systems.
  • Represent Prologis in interactions with utilities, ISOs (CAISO, ERCOT, etc.), AHJs, and permitting agencies.
  • Assess project viability by evaluating electrical interconnection requirements, land use constraints, floodplain impacts, zoning, and permitting factors. Coordinate with Development and Real Estate Teams to ensure site viability from both Civil and Electrical perspectives. Visits sites as needed during pre-construction phase and drive/support 30% CD Packages.
  • Evaluate BESS technologies and OEM offerings, including factors such as augmentation strategy, RTE, BOL, availability, and long-term performance.
  • Prepare and submit interconnection applications (e.g., CAISO, PJM, MISO, ERCOT, utility programs). Coordinate technical studies (Feasibility, System Impact, Facilities Studies) with consultants and transmission providers.
  • Manage technical scope for FAT/SAT testing, BESS commissioning, and interconnection compliance.
  • Develop and manage interconnection strategies across a portfolio of energy storage projects (standalone or hybrid). Analyze grid conditions, queue backlogs, and interconnection opportunities at ISO/RTO and utility levels.
  • Perform and review conceptual engineering, including site layouts (5%, 10%, 30% design stages), SLDs, and equipment configurations for PV + BESS and standalone BESS systems.
  • Review contractor and EPC designs; provide construction phase engineering support as needed.
  • Lead cost optimization efforts through value engineering and design innovation.
  • Partner with Development, Legal, Real Estate, and Permitting teams to ensure project success.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables (SLDs, communication and control diagrams, protection studies, equipment specs) meet quality, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with procurement to define technical requirements and support vendor selection for major equipment (MV switchgear, transformers, PCS, controls).
  • Serve as the technical lead for utility-scale energy storage projects during early-stage development, supporting site selection, feasibility, and system optimization.
  • Oversee internal and external engineering efforts across major project milestones—design, interconnection, permitting, procurement, commissioning, and O&M transition.
