Senior Project Manager

Description

Client focus – You will deliver key assignments, implement programme delivery environments (people, process, technology), promote quality and service excellence, and manage day‑to‑day contractor activities, design coordination, data collection, progress reporting, invoicing, payments and project meetings and reviews.

Integrity – You will manage project budgets, ensure fiscal and ethical viability, comply with organisational and legislative obligations, support senior stakeholders in long‑term strategy, and hold others accountable to Mace values.

Create opportunity – You will lead and develop your team, network and innovate using Mace’s knowledge hubs, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders up to C‑Suite, and support programme implementation and management.

• Lead and advocate safety, quality, cost, schedule and sustainability.
• Manage day‑to‑day contractor performance and design coordination.
• Collect and maintain data dashboards; update cost, schedule, risk and performance information.
• Oversee invoicing, payment processes and support project meetings and assurance boards.
• Verify and validate deliverables including BIM, financials, schedule and quality.
• Liaise with stakeholders; handle RFIs, notices, early warnings and claims.
• Maintain baseline documentation, control changes and support baseline maintenance.
• Provide training and support to DEO, PMO, regional and client‑side teams.
• Promote learning from experience, lessons learned and collaboration hubs.
• Manage project budgets ensuring fiscal and ethical compliance and support strategic development.
• Lead, mentor and develop team members to reach their full potential.
• Network, innovate and apply Mace’s centres of excellence and knowledge hubs.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders up to C‑Suite to implement programmes.

Requirements

Within our consult business, we combine leading‑edge practical expertise and project‑delivery consultancy to unlock potential in every project. We are supporting a strategic UK client on a £5 bn capital investment programme to transform infrastructure, and we seek NEC4 ECC‑accredited Project Managers with pre‑construction and construction experience.

Safety first – You will champion safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and compliance, possess advanced knowledge of local health‑and‑safety regulations, and foster a diverse, inclusive environment that supports the wellbeing of the people you manage.

Required experience – Professionals with at least 10 years post‑qualification experience, a construction background, a degree or HND/HNC, membership of a relevant professional body (CIOB, APM or RICS), large public‑sector experience (defence or security desirable), NEC4 accreditation, technical leadership, the ability to work independently, manage junior staff and an entrepreneurial mindset. A valid security clearance (or eligibility) and familiarity with Microsoft Project are also required.

• Possess 10+ years post‑qualification experience, construction background and professional membership.
• Hold NEC4 ECC accreditation and experience across RIBA stages 1‑2.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, independent work delivery and junior staff management.
• Valid security clearance (or eligibility) and proficiency with Microsoft Project.
