  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, iwi, external agencies, and community stakeholders to support planning projects.

  • Support project teams on city growth and long-term strategy initiatives by coordinating inputs, preparing engagement materials, tracking progress, and providing practical planning advice.
  • Prepare, review, and research planning documents such as the District Plan, masterplans, structure plans, and local policies, ensuring compliance with the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act, and other legislation.

  • Comfortable using MS Office and other systems relevant to planning and policy work, and have a learning-oriented mindset.
  • Organised, proactive, and collaborative, with excellent communication skills and a willingness to contribute positively to team goals.

  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to interpret technical information and provide clear, practical planning advice.
  • Tertiary qualification in planning, environmental management, urban studies, geography, public policy, or a related discipline, and have a solid understanding of New Zealand’s planning frameworks, including the Resource Management Act (RMA) and Local Government Act (LGA).
  • Te Reo Māori language classes
