Key responsibilities include completing locating requests on schedule, documenting them accurately, coordinating third‑party pipeline crossing inspections, participating in damage‑prevention awareness programs, and maintaining knowledge of the Miss Dig Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act.
The role also assists other operational departments with inspection, leak‑survey, collection, and gas‑distribution system maintenance tasks while adhering to internal control procedures and staying informed of industry trends.
The position is primarily field‑based, requiring work in varied weather conditions, confined spaces, on ladders, and with personal protective equipment, involving physical activities such as lifting up to 50 lbs and operating heavy equipment.
Candidates must have a High School diploma or GED with related college or vocational training, 2 to 4 years of gas‑distribution experience, a valid Michigan driver’s license, and eligibility for company vehicle insurance; basic mechanical/electrical knowledge, completion of the Operator Qualification Program, and strong analytical, communication, and customer‑service skills are required.
