The Field Technician II inspects, tests, and maintains high, medium, and low voltage electrical power equipment such as SF₆ and vacuum circuit breakers, pad‑mount and GSU transformers, grounding systems, instrument transformers, and both manual and motor‑operated switches, while consistently applying the company’s safety policies.
Key responsibilities include performing entry‑level testing of power equipment independently, consulting manuals, schematics and engineering staff to troubleshoot and optimize equipment performance, preparing detailed test and maintenance reports, and repairing, replacing, or cleaning components as needed.
Candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check, hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and be able to work overtime and travel out of town. Preferred qualifications include strong written and verbal communication, experience with voltage verification, contact and insulation resistance testing, test‑equipment setup, reading one‑line drawings, and knowledge of LOTO, arc‑flash, and grounding. The role requires a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in electrical/electronic technology or equivalent military experience, 2–4 years of relevant industry experience, and NETA II certification.
