  • Responsible for support equipment and maintaining shop supplies.

  • Perform tests and inspections on the following equipment: low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchboards, ground systems, motor control centers, medium voltage cables, ground fault systems, and two-winding transformers.
  • Write complete, detailed reports promptly at end of day/project using a computer and the Company’s custom software.
  • Customer Focus – Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customer; Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; Acts with customers in mind; Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  • Assist Team lead in the supervision of up to 4 team members, providing technical guidance and training on testing of Electrical apparatus.

  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Must be available for out- of-town work of up to several months.

  • Willing to travel anywhere in North America >90% of the time. Schedule is dependent upon project work and is flexible to the degree it can be. This is worked out on a case by case basis with your assigned project manager. PTO scheduled in advance can and will be accommodated.
  • Strong background and experience in most types of switchgear testing through the 230 kV class.
  • Passed the NETA II (International Electrical Testing Association) exam or NICET equivalent preferred.
  • Problem Solving – Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers; can see hidden problems; is excellent at honest analysis; looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at first answers.
  • Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation.
  • Requires troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients and peers.
  • Good judgment, dependable, supervises projects with technical expertise and good business management skills.

  • Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME and two years experience. OR Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent and five years minimum same or similar work experience. OR High school education or equivalent and six years minimum same or similar work experience.
  • Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer controlled test equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move 100 pound test sets.
  • Simple relay calibration, use of recording instrumentation.
