The Senior Technology Designer role is on the Acoustics and Audiovisual team, leading design efforts and project management for complex acoustic and AV systems. The position collaborates with engineers and consultants, delivering solutions within budget and mentoring cross‑functional teams.
Key responsibilities include leading design and analysis across market sectors, communicating technical concepts, managing client relationships, planning and budgeting projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing bidding through construction administration.
- Lead design efforts for analysis and development of projects across various market sectors
- Communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences using narratives, diagrams, and presentations
- Interact with clients to gather requirements and convey technical information effectively
- Build and maintain professional client relationships
- Support execution of consulting projects as part of a project team
- Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
- Document design decisions and monitor progress versus fee and percent complete
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design requirements, perform code‑compliant calculations, and develop specifications
- Provide in‑process design reviews of deliverables
- Implement IMEG quality control processes to meet internal and client standards
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
- Contribute to research, development, and innovation initiatives within IMEG
- Identify potential project problems and consult with the Project Manager as needed
- Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration, including site inspections, measurements, commissioning, and testing
- Contribute to team success through process improvement, standards setting, resourcing, and morale building

Candidates must have strong technical and analytical abilities, deep knowledge of acoustics, vibration, and AV engineering principles, proficiency with industry software and specialist equipment, and excellent communication and teamwork skills. They should be able to mentor staff, travel up to 20%, and adapt to new challenges.
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in fundamentals of acoustics, vibration, noise control, digital signal processing, and electroacoustics (preferred)
- Knowledge of electrical systems, video signal calculations, basic IT networking, and AV sound system design (preferred)
- Ability to train, mentor, and motivate less experienced staff
- Proficiency with industry‑standard acoustic/AV engineering software and tools (preferred)
- Experience with specialist equipment such as sound level meters, vibration analyzers, 3D acoustic modeling, DSP/visual programming (Matlab, Max/MSP), BIM, Rhinoceros, Sketchup (preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Collaborative team‑player with attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
- BS in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or related STEM field (required)
- Minimum 7 years experience in building design consulting (8 years preferred)
- Associate degree or BIM/Engineering certificate (preferred) with 11–12 years experience in building design consulting or construction
Benefits
Required education is a BS in a relevant engineering or STEM field with at least seven years of consulting experience (or an associate degree/BIM certificate with extensive experience). The role is not eligible for sponsorship and offers a salary range of $101k‑$141k plus bonuses, stock options, comprehensive benefits, PTO, flexible schedule, and tuition‑reimbursement support.
