  • Keep current on and participate in the development of federal, state, and local regulations as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret title documents and secure appropriate curative.
  • Strategize and manage large lease acquisition projects in partnership with third-party brokers.
  • Participate in and/or conduct public meetings and community outreach relative to land activity in support of CCUS projects or other activities, including but not limited to land use hearings, open houses, and stakeholder engagement meetings.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Establish, cultivate, and manage relationships with landowners, regulatory agencies and industry partners and competitors.
  • Prepare cost estimates and manage budgets in conjunction with commercial, project management, and subsurface teams.
  • Participate in, develop, coordinate, and supervise the negotiation, acquisition, maintenance, administration, and disposition of real property rights and interests, including easements, leasehold, fee interests, licenses, and permits in support of CCUS projects.
  • Negotiate trades, development agreements, operating agreements, and other contracts necessary to acquire, develop, and operate property rights.

  • Knowledge of land-related computer applications.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Project, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of real property law, business law, title examination standards and procedures, agricultural and ranching practices, and general oil and gas activities.
  • Innovative in conceptualizing new solutions and properly managing risk.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal, and local governmental laws, and regulations relative to acquisition, maintenance, and management of real property interests.
  • Proven effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Must possess and maintain valid authorization as a notary public for the state within which the job is located.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks concurrently with strict deadlines and minimal supervision.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years industry experience with five (5) years of in-house land experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, preferably in Petroleum Land Management or related field.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel. The employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit reports for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience obtaining necessary regulatory orders and approvals related to drilling Class II, Class VI, or oil and gas wells.
  • Sitting; standing; walking or moving throughout facility; driving; talking; seeing (specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus); hearing; feeling; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; reaching; kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Solution oriented– adept at finding solutions that create value for Tallgrass and others.
  • Relationship oriented– strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with landowners, regulatory agencies, partners, competitors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Openness to new ideas- willingness and receptiveness to having ideas challenged.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas lease forms, pooling/unitization agreements, operating agreements, farmout agreements, and various negotiable contracts typically used in exploration activities.
  • Petroleum Land Management degree or JD preferred.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Certified Professional Landman (CPL) or Registered Professional Landman (RPL) through the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL).
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work within a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
