The role involves serving as the primary acoustical consultant on a variety of national and regional projects—classrooms, lecture halls, healthcare facilities, courthouses, conference centers, resorts, theatres, media production facilities, and broadcast studios. Responsibilities include developing, presenting, and managing solutions for room acoustics, sound isolation, mechanical system noise and vibration control, and environmental acoustics, as well as creating drawings, reports, acoustic models, and performing on‑site testing.
- Contribute to project design team with a creative, collaborative, evidence‑based approach to architectural acoustics
- Collaborate with architectural team members and clients
- Develop high‑quality acoustics reports, sketches, drawings, details, cost analyses, and specifications
- Analyze acoustic solutions using computer modeling software
- Review submittals and shop drawings
- Perform on‑site acoustic testing and noise surveys
- Conduct on‑site inspections of acoustical implementations
- Coordinate business development activities with principals and marketing staff (sales meetings, short‑list interviews, proposals)
- Attend project meetings, site visits, and execute on‑site testing
- Ensure work is completed on‑time, within budget, and meets NV5 quality standards

The position is U.S.-based and remote, open to major U.S. markets. Candidates must handle several concurrent projects while delivering accurate, thorough, and high‑quality work on time and within budget.
- 5–10 years experience as an architectural acoustics consultant
- Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, audio/music engineering, mechanical, architectural engineering, or physics (master’s preferred)
- INCE Board Certification preferred
- Expertise in room acoustics, sound isolation, mechanical system noise & vibration control, and environmental acoustics
- Strong technical curiosity and commitment to professional development
- Excellent attention to detail and outstanding oral/written communication skills
- Demonstrated integrity, responsibility, and accountability
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments
- Business development experience in professional services (acoustics) a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, Sketch‑Up, Ease, CadnaA desirable
- LEED certification desirable
- Willingness to travel occasionally and conduct off‑hours testing as needed
Benefits
