The Onshore Commissioning Manager for GE Vernova will report to the Commissioning Project Manager and be based at the Port Nigg Site in Inverness. This role oversees all onshore commissioning activities, prepares daily status reports for management, associated works, contractors and commissioning management, and coordinates activities with a special focus on commissioning tasks. The manager provides direct supervision and leadership of onshore teams, ensures quality standards are respected, supports quality inspectors, and maintains an effective EHS environment, including toolbox talks before operations.
Key responsibilities include liaising with the employer, associated works contractors and installation management to coordinate vessel activities, manage the transition from installation to M&E completion and offshore commissioning, and focus on energization activities. The manager supports loadout preparation and documentation, identifies and escalates issues or recovery needs, ensures handovers to the opposite rotational team, and conducts customer meetings and updates. Safety planning and ERP look‑ahead for 3‑day and 7‑day periods are also required.
Required qualifications are a degree or diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience), commissioning experience in electrical systems, high‑voltage experience, and electrical project management experience. Desired characteristics include project and people management onshore and offshore, strong EHS and quality awareness, ability to work from procedures, as‑built drawings and system schematics, and high interpersonal and leadership skills. The role also demands flexibility, motivation, the ability to work under pressure, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
