As a key member of the engineering team, you will drive the design, analysis, and enhancement of complex mechanical systems used in Globe’s industrial equipment. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you’ll collaborate across departments and with international customers while also supporting mentorship and continuous improvement within the team.
- Collaborating with engineering, operations, customer service, and sales teams to meet performance, quality, and cost targets
- Interfacing with shop-floor teams and working hands-on with diverse groups across all levels of the organization
- Participating in cross-functional meetings to support project alignment and execution
- Assisting in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management
- Designing and developing mechanical systems and components for industrial manufacturing equipment using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Supporting installation planning and addressing customer system requirements with diverse international stakeholders
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement within a 13-person engineering team
- Conducting engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate system performance and reliability
- Preparing technical drawings, schematics, reports, and specifications

Globe Machine is currently looking for a full-time Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team in Tacoma, WA. Occasional international travel (~5%) will be required.
As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and international customers. You are collaborative, patient, and comfortable working with diverse groups across all levels—from shop-floor personnel to cross-functional engineering teams. You also bring initiative, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and strong proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. A minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience in industrial machinery, equipment design, or material handling systems will also be essential.
- Experience leading engineering projects or mentoring junior staff
- P.Eng designation or eligibility (asset)
- Background in industrial automation, robotics, or controls
- Experience with FEA or other engineering analysis tools
- Troubleshooting mechanical system issues and driving root-cause problem solving
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, shop-floor environments, and project management tools
