You will support the projects operational teams, project engineers and managers on aspects of sustainability and environmental management and best-practice, developing environmental documentation, meeting legal and company standards. You will work with the ES Team to help ensure the environmental requirements of clients and regulators are complied with, identify on site mitigation and consents as required.
⦁ Support and direct a team of ES Advisors
⦁ Identify regulatory consents, permits and licences required, work with our consultants and clients to obtain these
⦁ Report on good practices and investigate and report on environmental incidents to the project teams and the client with the support of your colleagues
⦁ Support the learning and development operational teams through sustainability training sessions, leadership presentations, supplier and customer education forums
As the leading manager of our compliance responsibilities with our DCO, Management Plans and Regulatory Permissions, your main responsibilities include;
⦁ Provide review of ES content in construction methodologies, risk registers, programmes and other project specific deliverables
⦁ Draft environmental sustainability documents for our site ES teams to utilise during project delivery
⦁ Provide advice, support and direction to our operational teams to enable them to deliver environmentally compliant projects and sustainable opportunities in line with environmental legislation, BB procedures, client requirements and the Building New Futures Strategy
⦁ Work with the Senior ES Manager to promote Zero Harm objectives and Building New Futures strategies and drive continuous improvement of performance
⦁ Inspire individuals across the group to become more sustainable and to promote sustainability within their own functions and businesses.
This role will see you supporting the Senior Environmental Manager in ensuring that Our clients New Futures strategy is at the heart of the BTNO project and that our client requirements for environmental sustainability and DCO compliance are met.
⦁ Take part in lessons learnt exercises and consider areas for improvements
⦁ Ensure our working practices and methods comply with the conditions of these permissions
⦁ Support compliance with Company Policies & Processes
⦁ Develop and update DCO Management Plans, ensuring our works are conducted in line with these plans
⦁ Strong influencing skills
⦁ Professional and pragmatic team player who can build and sustain effective working relationships
⦁ Working knowledge of E&S Management systems
⦁ Experience of delivering against CEEQUAL/BREEAMi
⦁ The individual will be comfortable supporting experts in sustainability (carbon, water, waste, materials & responsible sourcing, circular economy, biodiversity, social value, community engagement, BREEAM, CEEQUAL) and potentially has expertise in one or more areas of sustainability
⦁ A relevant degree or equivalent in an environmental discipline
⦁ Exceptional communication and relationship management skills are required, coupled with a strong ability to influence through others and support/coach the business stream leadership where necessary
⦁ Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook
⦁ Previous experience of working with clients and regulators on compliance
⦁ Programme management experience with a structured approach to organising and documenting progress
⦁ Experience in deciphering technical documents and translating into operational terms
⦁ Thorough working knowledge of current UK environmental legislation and consenting regimes
⦁ Strong background in assessing environmental hazards and understanding of the mechanisms of how to mitigate
⦁ Comprehensive knowledge and experience of Sustainability and how it practically impacts on the ‘built environment’
⦁ Strong working knowledge of the construction sector, preferably Utilities
⦁ Commercial awareness of contracting and experience of managing subcontractors
⦁ Valid Driving Licence
⦁ Appropriate IEMA level or equivalent professional accreditation
⦁ GIS knowledge and working experience (ArcGIS, QGIS)
