Estimator

Description

The Estimator will perform complete, detailed material and labor take‑offs for all house plans and maintain the plan, community, and option database in JD Edwards. This role supports budgeting, cost management, and the bidding process while ensuring accurate communication of estimates to construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors.

• Compile, verify, calculate, and distribute hard cost items to the Purchasing team.
• Process subcontractor bids and analyze cost changes.
• Arrange budgets for housing starts, listing standard and non‑standard pricing items.
• Provide updated costing information for entry into the estimating system.
• Perform itemized take‑offs of material and labor for each home and community.
• Cost custom options and change orders, and review published pricing for accuracy.
• Interpret construction plans and specifications and communicate completed estimates to relevant personnel.
• Assist with the bidding process for new and existing products.
• Conduct field audits to verify quantities, quality, and service levels of purchases.
• Provide administrative support for the costing department, including correspondence processing, data entry, report preparation, filing, and copying.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Construction or a related field and have at least three years of estimating experience in the homebuilding industry. The position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, proficiency with Build Pro, JD Edwards, and Microsoft Office, and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines with accuracy.
