Safety Specialist

Description

• Collaborate with teams to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, laws, standards, and policies.
• Cultivate positive and productive relationships with customer representatives and address any safety issues.
• Assist in incident process, maintenance, and recordkeeping.
• Develop and deliver training programs, maintaining all associated documentation.
• Promote corporate training systems with a commitment to safety and quality.
• Evaluate and maintain inspection and testing reports.
• Prepare, schedule, and conduct regular QA/QC crew audits.
• Assist with OQ Training/Evaluating as needed.
• Foster a team environment when advising on needed corrections.
• Track employee development and On The Job Training (OJT) to ensure safe and effective job performance.
• Engage daily with field personnel and management teams to maintain OSHA compliance and workplace safety.
• Conduct audits and hazard analysis of project operations and assist in updating and maintaining the company safety manual.
• Maintain and develop expertise in gas distribution, pipeline, and underground safety knowledge.
• Provide training for New Hire Orientation, CPR/First Aid, OSHA 10, Competent Person, and Asbestos.
• Work with personnel to ensure safe job placement and assignment.

Requirements

• Strong communication and writing skills.
• OSHA 10, 30, 40, 500/510 certifications.
• CSP, ASP, OHS, CHST, CSST, CSHO certifications preferred.
• Strong presentation skills for leading Safety Meetings and trainings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Bachelor’s degree in a Safety or construction-related field is preferred.
• 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• Experience in heavy civil projects.
• Familiarity with quality assurance audits in the natural gas and public utility industry.
• Experience in coordinating and communicating across company and department lines.
• Experience in transmission, distribution, and power, including substation experience (training available if necessary).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to identify and record proper and improper practices on a natural gas job site.
• Knowledge of NFPA70.
