Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians and administrative staff.
Managing and leading substation projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management.
At times, being responsible for overseeing non-engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services.
Leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world class services to clients in the Texas region.
Coordinating with HDR’s Talent Acquisition team and leadership to develop a hiring plan to help build and grow a group of substation professionals.
At times, supporting and engaging in broader business development activities with existing and target clients in the region.
Building, developing and supervising a local substation team and providing oversight over workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and performing annual performance reviews of team members.
Leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world class quality.

Experience with transmission, distribution, communication, and system protection and planning projects, as well as public involvement, environmental permitting, and real estate acquisition.
7 years related experience
MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be plus)
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months, together with experience using project management tools, such as MSProject.
Ability to effectively understand and apply many of the following project management concepts is strongly preferred: project life cycle, contract terms and project risk, work breakdown structures, project scope/schedule/budget, project initiation, project planning, financial management and controls, including earned value, internal/external communication, team management, change management, and project closeout.
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams; regional, department, and technical managers; and project staff preferred.

Experience working with Renewables developers and/or the interconnection of Renewables
