Safety Manager

Description

• Support all safety efforts on the project and promote Gilbane Cares safety culture.
• Preplan contractor activities for safety via scope review, preconstruction meetings, JHA review, and STAs.
• Ensure contractors meet Gilbane safety submittal requirements and comply with the safety plan.
• Maintain all safety‑related documentation.
• Recommend actions for hazardous situations affecting employee safety or health.
• Utilize SafetyNet to audit and monitor implementation of the Safety Plan.
• Perform at least 15 SafetyNet inspections per month with a minimum of 100 observations each.
• Provide and analyze SafetyNet trending reports and develop action plans with the project team.
• Coach the project team on effective hazard identification and correction using SafetyNet.
• Investigate all accidents and near‑misses and complete required paperwork.
• Ensure project teams have necessary safety equipment and resources.
• Serve as liaison with insurance carriers and manage related correspondence.
• Deliver safety training on Gilbane, client, and OSHA requirements to project teams.
• Train direct reports on processes, procedures, and daily task completion.
• Manage workload and performance of direct reports to align with company standards.
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members.
• Communicate company and department strategy to direct reports.
• Collaborate with business development to align sales strategies, performance metrics, and client deliverables.
• Participate in strengthening client, partner, and industry relationships to position Gilbane as the Builder of Choice.
• Identify current and future hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop management and leadership skills.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• possess 4–5 years of construction safety management experience.
• Maintain a BCSP credential.
• Be a certified instructor authorized by Gilbane University and OSHA to teach safety courses.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of construction safety and health principles, regulations, and interpretations.
• Show strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Compensation for this Arlington, VA position ranges from $133,800 to $163,600, plus a comprehensive benefits package, profit‑sharing/401(k), and education investments.
