The Associate Deep Well Operator works under general supervision, receiving work instructions and applying limited judgment to resolve semi‑routine problems. The role involves ensuring pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other wastewater treatment equipment remain operational, and may include training or guiding less experienced team members.
The operator maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work area, uses housekeeping equipment such as mowers and pressure washers, and follows all safety regulations and federal or state requirements. They operate and monitor tank farm equipment, report malfunctions, assist with repairs, and document preventive and corrective maintenance. Additional duties include handling landfill waste activities, operating heavy equipment like forklifts and excavators, and tracking daily records for leachate and hazardous systems using Microsoft Excel.
Key abilities include gaining knowledge of well‑operations processes, reading and comprehending operational and safety documents, and understanding chemical hazards through safety data sheets. The employee is expected to provide input on work practices, report unsafe conditions, demonstrate a positive attitude and mental resilience, adhere to company policies, and possess basic computer proficiency.
Candidates should have 0‑2 years of relevant experience and familiarity with pumps, valves, or similar industrial equipment. Preferred candidates hold a current 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification or can obtain it upon hire.
